Matthew is a young actor who has just stared in what we learn is his first blockbuster film. While he is pleased with its mainstream success, he has higher, artistic aspirations. His professional dreams elicit a crisis between his sense of integrity and the trajectory of his career. Matthew's opportunity to redirect his film career surfaces when renowned period and art film director, Thomas Dockery, contacts him. Dockery asks him to play the lead in an upcoming film. Matthew accepts an invitation from Dockery to visit him at his country estate for a week in advance of the start of the production. Over the course of the week Matthew comes to find that he and Dockery are more alike then he expected. Inexplicably, they find companionship based on a subtle mutual acknowledgment of each other's existential predicament of isolation and alienation.
